Research Fellow - Climate Finance Governance (CFG)

Job Context
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) is inviting applications from Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Research Fellow, Climate Finance Governance (CFG), to be recruited for its project titled, Participatory Action against Corruption: Towards Transparency and Accountability (PACTA) (up to December 2026). Upon joining, the incumbent will be regarded as a member of TIB’s core project team. This position is reportable to the Senior Research Fellow - Climate Finance Governance (CFG).
Responsibilities
• Assist in the assessment and prioritisation of the research needs of the organisation;• Play a key role in developing research concepts, methodologies, tools, techniques and processes of data collection;
• Conduct independent research, produce research reports, make public presentations, and present research papers in external fora;
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on climate governance encompassing climate change, climate finance, disaster management, and sustainable environment management from both national and international policy perspectives;
• Contribute to preparing terms of reference (ToR) for outsourcing research and monitoring outputs;
• Play a key role in large-scale quantitative surveys starting from the design stage to implementation (designing survey tools, planning field operations, training field surveyors/staff, supervising /coordinating data collection, analysing data, and report writing);
• Assist in ensuring the inclusion of qualitative insights in the analysis of large-scale quantitative data extracted from community monitoring, the official database of the government and different national and international research and development agencies;
• Guide/supervise Research Associates in analysing field data and visualising corruption and mal-governance by using qualitative data visualisation tools;
• Prepare policy briefs/position papers and policy advocacy plans based on findings of different research;
• Guide and supervise the team/researchers who are assigned to him/her;
• Supervise and guide Interns/short-term staff/volunteers in their transcription work and analyses of interviews and findings from focus group discussion; guide and train them in the analysis of data for purposes of development of policy briefs and recommendations;
• Assist in planning, designing and implementing activities of the Research & Policy (R&P) division;
• Assist in developing and updating creative, innovative and effective anti-corruption research, particularly in the area of climate governance;
• Prepare draft periodic reports on the implementation of the R&P component of the project;
• The position is Dhaka-based. However, the Research Fellow must be ready to undertake research-related field visits as and when required;
• Perform any other relevant task assigned by the organisation.
Special Instruction
Academic Qualification
• Masters with Honours at the Bachelor’s level, preferably in a relevant subject like Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, International Relations, Law, Development Studies, Anthropology, Urban Planning, Geography, Environment, Statistics etc.);• Candidates with a third division or a GPA below 2 in SSC/HSC or a CGPA below 2.5 as applicable, are not considered to meet the necessary requirements.
Other Qualification
• Candidates must have at least 8 (eight) years of experience in research, of which at least 3 (three) years equivalent to Research Associate or above position is necessary unless the candidate has a similar length of experience of work in a governance and anti-corruption organization or project;• Candidates with experience in working on or understanding governance, anti-corruption and integrity in general and environment and climate change, including of the global climate governance regime, in particular will have an advantage.

Additional Requirement
• Significant knowledge about qualitative research tools and techniques (case studies, participatory observation, FGD/GD/KI, etc.); practical experience in the application of data collection tools and techniques (e.g., KoBo toolbox) and using analytical tools and programming language such as SPSS/STATA/R; ATLAS.Ti/NVivo etc. would be treated as an added advantage;• Experience in research on national integrity institutions (NIS), diagnostic studies, and household surveys would be an added advantage;
• Integrity, team building and professionalism are some core attributes which the candidate needs to possess;
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, in both Bangla and English;
• Sound computer skills for quantitative data processing and analysis as well as good word processing skills in both Bangla and English, good command of the use of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.;
• Experience of working in an anti-corruption organisation/project will be an added advantage.
